Encaustic medium is made from purified beeswax and damar resin to which pigments can also be added. It is applied in a liquid state and each layer is heat fused to the previous layer with a torch or heat gun. It is a natural UV filter, works well with other mediums, and is especially versatile to use with mixed media.

monoprints

Clay monoprinting is a process invented by Mitch Lyons over 50 years ago. I love mixing my own ‘paints,’ the freedom of loose compositions, and the surprise of the image that lurks below the surface when you pull a print. I was honored to have met Mitch when I took his workshop in Taos NM. He passed away last year.
Dave Christian Art
Arnold, California
Works With
watercolor, and pen or colored pencil for the lettering
Creates
wall art, travel prints of the local area and beyond
I do the original watercolor painting with the location in either colored pencil or pen. I also try to implement some information about the location whether historical, the elevation, dates, name of the forest or region, etc. I then turn the original into a print, hence the idea of “travel prints” based off of the old vintage posters.

In this first book of the series, the Norse God of Love, Freyr, has no choice but to drag Lia into the strange world of Gods and giants hidden in our midst after she witnesses the impossible in the sky above her on a cold, wet Los Angeles morning. Hoping to save her life from members of his family determined to end his, Freyr takes Lia to the other side of the world, into the realm of giants far below it, and finally to the mythical land of Asgard. Along the way, as Freyr discovers a love he couldn’t have anticipated and didn’t want, he must decide whether his life is more valuable than Lia’s, and how far he will go to protect her from the fight that his brothers started, and he will end.
